Mr Moses was speaking during an exhibition of different produce at a hotel in Kakamega town.

Keitany noted that Kakamega has favourable climate for the growth of passion fruits and vitually any fruit tree.

“With the warm climate and rainfall experienced throughout the year in Kakamega County, various fruits can do well and yield a lot,” he said.

The good weather in Kakamega can make “An acre of passion fruit can earn a farmer over Sh 1 million in a period of 12 months.”

Speaking to KNA Keitany revealed that they have a wide range of customers that they struggle to satisfy.

“We have a number of outlets for passion fruits both locally and internationally.”

  • supermarkets,
  • hotels,
  • municipalities and city markets

That’s not all.

We also export to regional markets in Kampala where they use the fruits for the  production of fresh juices for vending in the streets of Kampala.

We also sell to international markets  in the Middle East and Europe,” he explained.

Equatorial Hortifresh Limited EHL is a private limited company with its headquarters in Eldoret.

It is among the leading exporters of passion fruit in the region.

The company  was registered in 2013 and It started operating in Uasin Gishu.
